Half the repair quotes you'll get should be rebuild quotes instead.

A deck with a rotted ledger board, undersized footings, and 12-year-old pressure-treated boards isn't a repair job. It's a rebuild. But most contractors will bill you for “patch and replace” because rebuild conversations are harder.

You spend on cosmetic repairs. Two years later, the structure fails anyway. Now you pay to rebuild what could have been rebuilt the first time for less. We tell you the truth. If your deck or fence is repairable, we repair it. If it's not, we tell you — and we quote the rebuild fairly.

That's not how this works. Not here.

How our deck & fence repair process works

Five steps. Honest assessment first. We only quote what we'd actually do.

1

Assessment

Site visit, structural inspection (deck or fence), written recommendation: repair, rebuild, or leave it alone — honestly.

2

Quote

Real numbers based on what we saw on site. No “starts at $X” headline pricing. Daniel reviews the scope and gives you a number you can plan around.

3

Schedule

Most small repairs scheduled within 1–2 weeks. Larger structural repairs may need more lead time depending on materials.

4

Execute

We send the right person/crew with the right materials. We stay until it's done — or we tell you why we can't.

Deck & fence repairs we handle

🔧

Deck Board & Railing Replacement

Rotten deck boards, broken balusters, loose railings. Like-for-like replacement, or upgrade to better materials if you're already in there.

🔧

Deck Post & Footing Repair

Heaved posts, rotted bases, missing concrete. We can replace a single post without rebuilding the entire deck — if the rest of the structure is sound.

🔧

Fence Gate & Hardware Repair

Sagging gates, broken latches, hinges that no longer hold the gate level. Most gates fail at the hardware, not the wood. We rebuild gates with proper heavy-duty hardware.

🔧

Fence Panel & Post Replacement

Rotted or storm-damaged fence panels, leaning fence posts, snapped pickets. We replace the affected section and confirm the rest is structurally sound.

Why homeowners book a ROG deck or fence repair

Honest assessment up front.

We tell you whether to repair, rebuild, or wait one more season — based on the actual condition of your deck or fence.

We quote your specific repair — not a per-hour headline.

Every deck and every fence is different. Daniel reviews the scope from the on-site assessment and gives you a real number for your project.

Right-sized crew, right-sized scope.

We don't send a full crew for a one-day repair. The job gets matched to the right people.

Permit and code awareness.

Older decks were often built to older codes. We can't legally “repair” a structure to non-compliant standards. We tell you what would need to come up to current code.

One person owns your repair.

From the on-site assessment to the final walkthrough — one project manager, one phone number.

Recent outdoor project photos and testimonials coming soon. In the meantime, our renovation clients consistently highlight the same things: clear communication, clean execution, and projects delivered without unnecessary surprises.

Deck & fence repair questions

How much does a deck repair cost?

Every deck repair is different — a few rotten boards is not the same job as replacing a failing post or a full railing section. We give you a real number after the on-site assessment, not a per-hour rate published on the website. The assessment is where we figure out what's actually wrong and what it actually takes to fix it.

How much does a fence repair cost?

Same answer — we quote after we see it. Replacing one panel is different from re-staining a full backyard fence or replacing a sagging gate post. The assessment confirms scope; the quote follows from that.

When should I just repair vs. rebuild?

If your footings and structure are sound, repair is usually better. If footings are heaved, ledger board is rotted, or the structure was built to non-compliant code, rebuild typically costs less in the long run. We make the call honestly after the assessment.

My deck just needs to be sanded and stained — do you do that?

Yes — we can sand, stain, replace any rotted boards we find, and tighten loose hardware. Most “refresh” jobs are 2–3 days on site, but scope and price come from the assessment.

My gate sags — can you fix it without rebuilding the whole fence?

Almost always yes. Sagging gates are usually a hardware issue plus sometimes a post issue. We replace the hardware with proper heavy-duty self-closing hardware, and we replace the gate post if it's failing.

My deck looks fine but it feels bouncy when people walk on it. Is that normal?

No. Bouncy decks usually mean undersized joists, joists spaced too far apart for the span, or a failing ledger connection. This isn't cosmetic — it's a structural warning sign. Book an assessment before someone gets hurt.

How quickly can you do a repair?

Most small repairs scheduled within 1–2 weeks of assessment. Larger structural repairs may need 2–4 weeks lead time depending on materials.

Will my fence repair match my existing fence?

Cedar weathers grey within 1–2 years. New cedar is reddish. We can stain new boards to approximate the weathered colour, but the only way to make repairs invisible is to stain the whole fence at the same time. Composite and PVC repairs match seamlessly.

What's the biggest mistake homeowners make on a deck or fence repair?

Hiring the cheapest quote without an on-site assessment. A repair that doesn't address an underlying problem is a delay — the structure fails anyway, usually within a few seasons. Pay attention to who's actually looking at your deck or fence before they quote.

Do you assess decks AND fences?

Yes. Same process for both. We can assess one or the other, or both in the same visit if you have repairs needed across your outdoor structures.

How do I get started?

Book a deck or fence repair assessment. Daniel comes out, looks at the structure, and tells you what it needs — and what it doesn't.

"Having a contractor that is solution oriented showcasing innovation and creativity during the unexpected, definitely made the process easier and more enjoyable."
