How much does a basement renovation cost in Ottawa?
$30,000 to $60,000+, depending on scope. A partial finish — one or two rooms with basic finishes — starts around $30K. A full basement finishing with bathroom, multiple rooms, and quality finishes reaches $60K or more. We give you a detailed number after your consultation, not a vague range.
How long does a basement renovation take?
6–10 weeks for most projects. A partial finish with basic scope can be done in 6–8 weeks. A full finishing with bathroom and multiple rooms takes 8–10 weeks. We lock the schedule before we start — and we stick to it.
What about moisture and waterproofing?
This is the single most important step in any basement renovation — and the one most contractors skip. We assess every basement for water infiltration, condensation, and drainage before we frame a single wall. If there's a moisture issue, we fix it first.
Do I need a permit to finish my basement?
In most cases, yes. Any structural, electrical, or plumbing work requires permits — and finishing a basement almost always involves all three. Requirements differ between Ontario and Quebec. We handle all permits on both sides.
Can you add a bathroom to my basement?
Yes. We handle below-grade plumbing — sewage ejector pumps, backwater valves, drainage, and waterproofing. Adding a basement bathroom requires permits and specific plumbing expertise. It's one of the most common additions we do.
Why are some basement renovation quotes much cheaper?
Usually because something is missing. Lower basement quotes often skip the moisture assessment, exclude egress window installation, omit plumbing rough-ins for a future bathroom, or leave out project management. Those costs surface later as change orders. We include everything — waterproofing, framing, electrical, finishing — so the price you agree to is the price you pay.
